REASONS TO LIVE IN CAPE CORAL

  • Over 400 miles of canals weave through the city tying together backyards, the Caloosahatchee River, lakes, canals, and of course, the Gulf of Mexico.
  • 300 plus days of sunshine-need I say more? if there is one thing I don't miss it is the cold weather and all that comes with it: snowblowers, sweaters, shovels, boots, etc..
  • It is an amazing city, built out of the dreams of two brothers, Jack and Leonard Rosen, who had to bring in the world’s largest shipment of excavation equipment to help design this water wonderland. It is also a young city, the first house was built in 1958. Cape Coral is only about 33 percent developed with 100 square miles of city land, making it the second largest city by land mass in Florida.
  • Beaches-Cape Coral has the Yacht Club beach, a simple, friendly easy access beach on the Caloosahatchee. Fort Myers Beach and Sanibel Beaches are just 20-40 minutes away.
  • Quality of life-Life in the Cape is amazing. It affords so many opportunities for a quality lifestyle with peace of mind, exciting activities, wonderful weather, and more.
  • The potential here is endless. Cape Coral is only about 35-40% developed. As Cape Coral increasingly gets discovered, it is growing into quite an attractive and strategically located city, offering it's residents more and more as it develops.
  • Surrounded by other great places We are not only in a great city, but are also in close proximity to other great places, such as Fort Myers Beach, Sanibel/Captiva, Pine Island, Boca Grande, Orlando, Tampa, St Petersburg, Clearwater, Naples, Marco Island, South Beach, Ft Lauderdale, the Caloosahatchee River, and the Gulf of Mexico. All these are just within miniutes or a few hours from here, making a desirable "home base" for exploring all of SW Florida.
  • Our newly expanded airport in Fort Myers offers many national and international flights and is only 20 minutes away. Another large expansion was just completed.
  • Florida Gulf Coast University is also new to our area, having opened just 7 years ago. Also just over the bridge, in Fort Myers, is Edison Community College, now being expanded to accommodate the area’s growth.
  • New Resident's Club-Cape Coral has a wonderful assortment of clubs to join, including the New Resident’s Club, The Cape Coral Art League and many others.
  • Our median age is 39 and the 25-44 year old age bracket is the largest growing segment of our population.
  • A growing polulation Cape Coral surpassed the magical 100,000 population mark in 2001 and is currently at around 175,000. We are ranked in the top 5 fastest growing cities in the nation. This has really helped put us on the map and many businesses and potential new residents are looking at the area more seriously.
  • Great hospital-Cape Coral is large enough to have a great hospital and plenty of healthcare facitlities around.
  • New VA Clinic-this wonderfall facility will be complete by 2012 offering even more services to our veterans.
  • Wonderful schools-I could not be happier with the schools as I have 2 small children that enjoy the school system in Cape Coral.
  • Great golf courses-Cape Coral has several wonderful golfcourses, including Coral Oaks, Palmetto Pines, Cape Royal, and Executive golf courses.

20 Things I love About Cape Coral
April 1st, 2009 8:33 AM

Being in real estate is a little like being a kid in a candy shop when it comes to houses and places to live. You can't help but look at all places in the country as a potential new home. Each house you see or are invited to becomes a comparison to where you live now. Every vacation I find myself picking up The Real Estate Book so I can see what types of homes and prices are available in that area. It's an addiction, I admit it. But in the end I have been in Cape Coral since 1997 and cannot think of a better place to live.

  1. 365 days of sunshine (practically)
  2. 400 miles of canals
  3. The Yacht Club Beach
  4. The people-some of the friendliest and nicest people are my neighbors.
  5. Gorgeous Sunsets
  6. Cape Harbour and its restaurants and shopping (especially the gelatto at Run Agrounds.
  7. Sun Splash Water Park
  8. The bridges-I have always been a nut for bridges and I love driving home from a trip. It is a wonderful "Gateway to home"
  9. Being near world class vacation destianations, the beaches but not having to deal with tourism-captiva, Sanbibel, Fort Myers Beach
  10. Being just a few hours from so much , including: South Beach, Tampa, St Petersburg, Orlando/Disney and many other them parks, Key West, Naples,  Miami, Boca, Palm Beach......
  11. Boating-I love going through the canals,
  12. Great restaurants-especially Ariannis, Rum Runners, Stevie Tomatoes, Iguana Mia, Twisted Cocnh and more
  13. Peace of Mind-it is such a relaxed, safe place to live with one of the lowest crime rates in the country
  14. 12 months of swimming in the pool-yes january is a little cold, but being south of the frostline is wonderful. Swimming while seeing snow on the news is crazy!
  15. The mix of people-The Cape is 10% German population, it has a large Italian American population, an infux of latin-origin people, the second home owners that are only here part of the year.
  16. Palm Trees-I never knew there were so many varieties! I love watching them in the breeze
  17. The relaxed attitude-Cape Coral is casual and easy going.
  18. BBQing all year round and eating outdoors most nights.
  19. International airport only 20 minutes away.
  20. Schools-my kids love their schools! I have nothing but great things to say about the school system

AFTER LIVING IN THE CAPE, IT GETS DIFFICULT TO CONSIDER ANYWHERE ELSE. WELCOME TO PARADISE!!
